"Thunder, We Have A Problem"

By Mikias Girma,Washington DC

On Saturday, the Oklahoma Thunder traded James Harden to Houston for Kevin Martin. The Thunder made a HUGE error. Instead of signing Serge Ibaka to an extension, they should have signed Harden, keeping their championship nucleolus together. Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Harden could have won two or more championships together.

It’s easier to find shot blockers (Ibaka) than 6th Man Of The Year winners (James). James Harden is the best 6th Man in the NBA. The 2nd best is Manu Ginobili. The Spurs won 3 championships with their three: Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili (The 6th Man Of The Year Winner).

The Thunder HELPED the Lakers with this move. Last year, the Lakers had no answer for James Harden in the playoffs. James continued to score and get the Lakers in foul trouble, helping his team defeat the Lakers and get in the Finals. Without James, the Thunder will find it more difficult to defeat the Lakers in the playoffs.

James Harden made an error and should have taken less money. He could have won multiple championships with Kevin Durant, which helps increase endorsement earnings! In Houston, James has to start and play with inferior teammates.

When James was with the Thunder, opposing teams had to focus on Durant and Westbook, leaving James space to operate. In Houston, opposing teams will focus solely on James, making it more difficult for him to score and win. Since Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon left, Houston has had problems (ask Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, Yao Ming & Appollo 13).
