Egyptian army foils car bomb near church

According to the The Washington Post, Egyptian military has foiled an attempted car bombing near a church and a military camp along the Egypt-Gaza border.

That country’s intelligence received word that militants were preparing a car bomb in a deserted part of the city of Rafah, which borders Gaza.

The army moved in on the militants late Sunday. The gunmen fled, leaving behind one car packed with explosives, bullet casings, and a rocket-propelled grenade.

Because the car bomb was found near an unused church and a military camp used by police and border guards, either may have been the target.
