Ethiopia earned 462 million US dollars from the tourism last Ethiopian budget year, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Director of Public and International Relations with the Ministry, Awoke Tenaw, said that the revenue was earned from 584,000 tourists who visited various tourist attraction sites across the country.
He said majority of the tourists were from America, England, Germany, France and Italy.
The income earned in the reported period increased by 69 per cent raise, while the number of tourist grown by 14 per cent compared to the previous budget year.
Awoke attributed the increase both in revenue and tourist flow to the promotion and infrastructural development activities carried out at tourist destination areas.
According to the director, the sector has created 224,000 jobs.
