Addis Ababa December 21/2012 Prime Minister Haile-Mariam Dessalegn said Ethiopia will discharge its responsibility in the campaign launched to reduce maternal and child mortality rate. While conferring with UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin here on Friday the premier lauded UNFPA for its support to Ethiopia in its efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality, expand youth reproductive health service and girl education. He said Ethiopia would make women youth and child issues high on the agenda when assume its AU Chairmanship in 2013. The Executive Director on his part called on Ethiopia to popularize the issue of maternal and child health across the Africa in its tenure. He said Ethiopia is one of the African countries who registered remarkable results in maternal and child mortality reduction. Ethiopia is one of the countries where discussion is being underway on post 2015 development agendas,he said and called on Ethiopia to further intensify its effort to popularize the issue of women, youth and children, according to an official from the ministry of foreign affairs.
