The Ethiopian Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a press release that the comments of Egyptians politicians these past days have been unhelpful to the win-win relations Ethiopia and Egypt deserves to establish.
The press release condemns the disturbing propaganda of some politicians who try and insight violence in connection to the recent diversion of the Abay river where Ethiopia builds the biggest dam in Africa.
The press release reiterates Ethiopia’s commitment to establishing win-win relations with countries like Egypt as Ethiopia recognizes it can very much benefit in cooperation than in hostility. Recently Egyptian politicians are propagating the Renaissance Dam construction by Ethiopia beyond its proportions as if it were a national threat to Egyptian people.
Some politicians in Egypt suggest sabotage to discourage Ethiopia not build the dam and it this option fails they want to damage the dam and the country through every available avenue which is slammed by the press release of the Ministry as irresponsible and unhelpful.
Following these disturbing developments in Cairo, Egyptian Ambassador to Addis Ababa has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify its government standing on these new developments. Ethiopia has so far prefers to leave such bad comments aside hoping they would be corrected in time. Yet the developments over the last couple of days show no sign of abetting in terms of halting such fueling comments on the part of Egyptian politicians.
Ethiopia remains honest, the press release said, to establish mutual relations with Egypt that promotes cooperation between the people of Ethiopia and Egypt.
