Real Madrid and Borussia Dortumnd are through to the quarter final of the Champions League. Real Madrid beats Manchester United 2-1 in a game full of controversy whereas Borussia Dortmund ease through Shaktar Doetsk 3-0. This is the fist time Borussia Dortmund to reach the Champions League quarterfinals on Tuesday for the first time since it won the competition in 1997.

Cristiano Ronaldo dealt his former club Manchester United a cruel blow by scoring the goal that put Real Madrid after the hosts were left distraught by Nani’s harsh dismissal. Real Madrid go through with 3-2 aggregate.

The 56th-minute red card, shown for a dangerous challenge, was the turning point of the game as Real won 2-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate with goals from Luka Modric and Ronaldo after United had gone ahead thanks to a Sergio Ramos own goal.

In the Borussia Dortmund-Shakhtar Donetsk match, Felipe Santana scored in the 31stminute, Mario Goetze in the 37th and Jakub Blaszczykovski in the 59th to complete the victory that sent the German champion through 5-2 on aggregate.
