Ethiopia is to establish first of its kind academy called Ethiopian Academy of Sciences, reports The Ethiopia Reporter. The academic’s main task is to advice the government on the formulation of correct policies, their effective implementation process and to provide scientific solutions to problems on priority areas. A draft proclamation, which specifies the purpose of establishing the academy, its objectives, duties and its relation with the government, was tabled before the parliament this week on Thursday.

The academy will be autonomous and has legal personality to conduct researches in the field of science, which the proclamation defines as: natural science, mathematics, medical science, life science, agricultural, engineering, social science, and includes fields of knowledge of humanities, arts and literature.
