Gala night dinner was held in Washington DC to honor and celebrate Ethiopia’s legend and artist Teshome Mitiku on April 28th, 2012. It was a night to remember: room full of guests, which in conservative estimate well in excess of six hundred including Teshome’s family members, close and long time friends, admirers and fans of his artistic works.

So many people gathered from all over the world to attend this great evening with Teshome, even some came as far as Ethiopia and all over the United States. The night was organized to celebrate four decades of Teshome’s extraordinary artistic contributions to Ethiopia and the world. Through his timeless work of art Teshome has entertained us and wonderfully introduced the beautiful culture and history our country to the outside world. Such was the spirit and main theme that united so many Ethiopians from different walks of life. The whole organization was immaculate and spectacular.

The idea behind the organizationof this beautiful evening was his wife Zewdenesh Dawit. Great music of the past and the present were performed by so many wonderful artists in honor of Teshome Mitiku. Artists such as Bezawerk Asfaw, Shambel Belayneh, Hibist Teruneh, Tesfamariam Kidane, Tewodros Mitiku, Nebeyu Mekonen,

Michael Alazar, Sirak Tegbaru, Roberto, Reshan Gebre and so many more.

Special speeches were sent from Ethiopia by Mulatu Astatke, Merawi Setot, Giovanni Ricco, Girma Negash and many more….

His Daughter Emilia Mitiku, who tried everything to attend this evening, was held back due to a work schedule conflict in Spain but her presence was felt through out the night when she congratulated her dad on big screen!

People laughed, cried, danced; simply everybody had a great time. It was a spectacular night fitting to timeless works of art of one of Ethiopia’s greatest artist, Teshome Mitiku!

When Teshe was asked by Sheba post “How he felt about all of this, He replied “It’s been two days since the event and I have not yet slept, I am still taking in all the excitement”

Tesh also wanted to pass on his deepest gratitude to everyone who made that night a great evening he will remember for the rest of his life, a special thank you to his wonderful wife Zewdenesh (Zed) Dawit, His Beautiful Daughter Emilia Mitiku,Amezenech Dawit, His Sister Mame(Mekdes) Mitiku and so many more people who made this a night to remember!
